Jordan works with individuals and couples wanting to develop new understandings of themselves and the world around them. She believes our wellbeing is shaped by the power dynamics and contexts we navigate, and she takes an anti-oppressive approach to therapy. Lowered-cost sessions may be available.
Jordan brings a critical, curious lens to therapy that questions how we've been taught we "should" be. Her background in masculinities research, bisexuality research, and 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming education shapes a practice that makes room for the parts of ourselves we were told to hide, shrink, or explain.
Jordan is bisexual and has lived experience with OCD and chronic illness. That lived experience informs her sex-positive, anti-oppressive practice. She knows what it means to navigate systems that weren't built with you in mind.
As a lover of philosophy, literature, and film, Jordan also draws on human story and reflection to explore the big questions of life. Therapy with Jordan is a space to notice the stories you've inherited and to write new ones that fit who you are.
"Stories about how we 'should' be limit the possibilities of what we can be. My work offers a space to envision empowering new ways of being and understanding."
- Jordan Keough, Registered Provisional Psychologist
Jordan works with individuals and couples navigating:
Jordan especially welcomes men and masculine folks, queer and questioning folks, and people working on their relationships. You do not need to have your identity, your relationship, or your questions figured out before you start.
Jordan integrates narrative therapy, feminist and anti-oppressive therapy, and somatic, body-aware approaches to offer client-centred, holistic care.
Narrative therapy separates you from the problem. Together you explore the stories that shape how you see yourself, and you build new ones rooted in your values and preferred ways of being.
Feminist and anti-oppressive therapy recognizes that distress doesn't happen in a vacuum. Gender norms, heteronormativity, monosexism, and other power dynamics shape our lives. Jordan names them rather than locating the "problem" only inside you.
Somatic approaches bring attention to what the body is holding, alongside what the mind is saying.
Jordan's clinical training includes supervised counselling practicum work at Mount Royal University's Student Counselling Services. There she provided individual counselling and co-facilitated group counselling with 2SLGBTQIA+ students, using narrative, feminist, and anti-oppressive approaches. She also spent nearly two years facilitating peer support groups for survivors of domestic violence at Sagesse.
In keeping with Alberta regulations, Jordan's clinical work is supervised by a Registered Psychologist.
Jordan is developing two workshops for therapists:

Horror feels so queer, and so many queer people love it, because the genre celebrates what mainstream culture labels "strange," reimagines the body beyond fixed categories, and gives shape to trauma that can be hard to put into words. For folks pushed to the margins, horror offers recognition, community, and stories of survival.
