Sabrina Niesman is a Registered Social Worker in Calgary, who works with people who are tired of being reduced to a diagnosis, a status, or a presenting problem. Her approach is warm, relational, and validation-forward. She meets you where you are, holds space for complexity, and moves at a pace that actually works for your nervous system.
Sabrina works at the intersection of identity, body, and systems, with particular warmth for people whose lives don't fit neatly into mainstream therapy assumptions. She is drawn to clients navigating chronic illness and the grief that comes with it, queer and trans identity at any stage, the complexity of relationships that don't follow a script, and the layered experience of being a newcomer or refugee trying to rebuild while navigating institutions that were never built with you in mind.
Her style is described by clients as gentle but not too soft, and she validates your experience fully. She will also gently reflect patterns back to you when the time is right. She works with what she calls 'structure within no structure': sessions are responsive rather than prescriptive, but they are never aimless. She brings in practical tools alongside emotional processing, grounding techniques alongside insight, and science-informed understanding of chronic illness alongside relational social work practice.
Sabrina works with adults and young adults offering:
Sabrina works from a relational, validation-forward foundation grounded in social work's systems lens. She is not here to hand you a toolkit and send you on your way. She is here to sit with you in the complexity, help you understand what is actually happening and why, and then build practical capacity alongside that understanding.
She draws on emotion-focused approaches to help clients identify and process what they are actually feeling, especially for people whose chronic illness, neurodivergence, or trauma history has left them feeling disconnected from their own internal experience.

She brings a science-informed understanding of how bodies carry illness alongside relational counselling.
